Every figure on PlainLabor traces back to a named public source, computed by documented pipelines. PlainLabor publishes under one organizational byline rather than personal ones: the publisher is accountable for the data framing, methodology, and corrections you read here.
Every figure published on PlainLabor is traced back to its official public source and computed by deterministic pipelines, not hand-entered. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics JOLTS series, PlainLabor tracks job openings, hires, quits, and layoffs across 28 industries and 51 states from 2019 onward; the current national rates are shown live on the trends page. Our methodology sets out exactly how each dataset is sourced, computed, and refreshed, and the about page explains how we handle corrections when a reader flags something. The byline below is the publishing organization itself, not an individual writer: these pages are generated from documented pipelines rather than individually reported, so accountability for the framing and for correcting it sits with the publisher.

Labor Statistics Editorial Process · Editorial Process
PlainLabor is a data journalism portal that examines U.S. labor market statistics across states and industries. The team's own database is built entirely from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS); some guides reference other BLS programs, the Current Population Survey (CPS) and Current Employment Statistics (CES), for context only. Every analysis is compiled from primary source data and reviewed by the editorial process. The team maintains editorial independence by not accepting payment from any covered entity.

PlainLabor is a data-journalism publisher: we compile public datasets, verify them against their official sources, and present them in plain language. Editorial standards, sourcing, and how we handle corrections are described on our about and methodology pages.
